Be Romantic In Your Relationships To Keep It Alive
Recent surverys by the Association of Wedding Professionals and others show that 50% of all first time marriages in the USA and over 60% of all second time round marriages end up in divorce.
Do you remember the love that brought the two of you together that day? Seems but a distant memory today?
Yet it need not be gone for ever!
Nobody ever said it would be easy and anyone who did was lying and certainly nothing prepares you for the total life change that you undertake in marriage. There is no manual that comes with the marriage license that tells you how to make things work.
The couples I have discussed this issue with have also said the marriage preparation classes offered beforehand was either rejected or totally inappropriate to them in their circumstances.
Sometimes love will conquer all problems and disagreements and it is great when that happens. But with marriage rates falling and divorce rates increasing at a phenomenal speed we are seeing a lot of couples breaking up and looking for the next in a long line of partners.
The cost of weddings (and the cost of divorces) are also going up so it does not matter how much you spend on a super duper ceremony for your second wedding it does not mean you will find guaranteed success. So it was natural I would want to find a way of saving marriages that were on the verge of breaking up.
Nobody said marriage was ever going to be easy, and if they did, they were lying.
It’s perfectly normal in a marriage to have disagreements and times when things involve a little more effort than they used to. In an ideal world we would sit and talk about these changes and differences in a calm and rational manner, and establish an outcome and move on.
Unfortunately things just do not always work like that. Its all too easy to get caught up in the moment and let things deteriorate to the point where you are both wondering why you are still in it.
As a website dedicated to promoting romance in romantic relationships (and lets face it this world urgently needs more genuine love in it than it has ever had) I felt in redesigning the website I had to bring together many of the issues that were previously haphazardly scattered all over the site in different folders into one place.
Romantic relationship categories
In this blog section you will find a major (and a growing) collection of articles about almost all areas of romantic relationships. You will find categories
- for singles on dating with suggestions on finding people on and off line (and links to lots of dating ideas)
- on understanding each other — what was actually meant by men are from Mars and women from Venus
- communications — how we sometimes need to adapt our words to ensure our partner hears what we thought we were saying
But we also recognise that things will go wrong from time to time and look at areas such as affairs how and why they happen even in the most respectable church going backgrounds. We show you how to bullet proof the relationship to prevent the extra-marital affair from even starting.
If it is already too late and your spouse or yourself is already having one we will look at how to cope with it including how to work out your next step.
- What inner effect is it having on you personally?
- Can you put it behind you and forgive or do you want a divorce?
If you have already split, how do you start again when still experiencing the hurt and pain of rejection you may be feeling inside that will affect your future relationships if not properly dealt with.
Intimacy within the marriage.
Yes, people do make love within a marriage relationship our bodies were specifically designed by our God to bring each other pleasure but some people do experience problems or lack of satisfaction in this part of their relationship.
Whether you are looking to put back some passion into the marriage bed or looking for even more flame in the passion then look at this section. I have done my best not to use words that will cause offence but sensitively discuss issues that people are looking to explore.
You may find that not all these issues will be online immediately but they will be brought in over the next few weeks.

Hello,
My girlfriend found this site and I am only beginning to explore it.
I appreciate romantic movies and I, to, sometimes cry. Thank you for the list but neither I nor my girlfriend believe watching movies that promote infidelity help society and specifically our relationship. I was wondering if you could provide an updated list that does not include cheating, which I believe the lonely housewife does with the handsome stranger in “Bridges of Madison County”.
Thanks,
Ron
Hello Ron
Thanks for the comment on that film and I fully agree with you on the promotion of films that show infidelity as a good thing. It never is and never will be good for a relationship. Usually it simply destroys trust within the marriage relationship and that can take years to rebuild. Some people have been able to overcome the infidelity of their loved one and learn to forgive them but being human we still have memories which cannot be wiped out so easily.
I have had people write and tell me that the discovery of their partners cheating on them made them sit up and take notice of what had happened in their marriage and pay far more attention to their partner and rebuilt their marriage as a consequence . However that simply points out the danger of us not giving full attention to our partner and letting them be led astray by others.
I will be removing the reference to that film.
