Flowers for your anniversary

A Rose made just for the Wedding Anniversary

You know how each anniversary is mean to represent a particular type of gift for example the first year is paper, 2nd is cotton, 3rd is leather (or crystal depending on where you look it up) 25th is silver etc.

My wife has always been keen on roses for as long as I have known her - she even gardens them - so for our first anniversary I bought her a small bunch of paper roses. As the 2nd year was coming up I saw in a shop window a silk rose so I thought that will keep up the tradition the third year I saw a crystal rose and it has just gone on from there.

She has put each of them on display in a glass fronted unit in the living room and when ever visitors see them she takes them out to explain the anniversary each of them were brought for. I have noticed she seems to glow with pride more every time she tells the story to someone new. I just have to keep it going!

Anyone know where I can buy a steel rose it is our eleven wedding anniversary coming up in a few months and I am desperate. — submitted by billy

An Unusual Anniversary Flower Bed

My husband has never been very romantic (despite me encouraging to come to this site for some ideas).   But on our last wedding anniversary we were due to be going out on hte evening but he seemed to have nothing special all day.  About three hours before we were due to be going out he said he was going upstairs for an early shower.

I suggested it was a bit early but never gave it much more thought until I heard him callout for me to come upstairs.  Thinking he was hurt or something I ran up as fast as I could and burst into the bedroom to find it full of red heart shaped balloons and on the bed were a dozen red roses with a huge card and he had even put on some soft music before taking me into his arms and leading me into a slow smooch to the tune we played at our wedding.

I could not believe it he had never done anything like this before and thinking about it even now still brings a tear to my eyes.  — submitted by louise atwell

Tissue Roses for the Paper Wedding Anniversary

For our first anniversary we were completly broke as two month only both of us had been been redundant when the business closed and were struggling to get another job.   Yet I wanted to do something for my still relatively new wife.   So I went into the local craft shop and brought some tissue paper and made a dozen red roses for her.  It took me ages and I had to hide them carefully so she did not find them too soon.   Quite honestly I have never seen her cry with joy over a gift.  It was worth every minute of the time it took.  Two days later I was offered another job and took her out for  a slap up meal on my first pay day but she still talks about the tissue roses as being the best present she had ever had.  — submitted by Joe
