This policy statement is issued by Ron Thomson and BeRomantic.com to describe how we treat any information received about you. For ease it is split into a number of areas but the following general statement applies throughout this whole document and all our dealings.

We do not sell, rent, lease, trade, swap exchange, barter, distribute or share in any other way any personal information about our users such as name, address or email to any third party. Period.

Mailing Lists

We operate a double opt-in subscription system for anyone requesting to join one of our lists. On receipt of a request to join a mailing list for any newsletter we will send a message to the email address that has been provided to us. That message will ask the person if they have requested that they be added to the list. Only if they respond positively will that name and email address be added to the subscription list. This ensures that no "jokers" are able to add your name and email address without your knowledge.

Unsubscribe instructions are automatically added to the end of every newsletter sent out by us. There is also a link where subscribers can — if they wish — amend their profile details (for example they can request that they receive a html copy instead of a plain text copy).

Cookies

BeRomantic.com does not use cookies although it is possible that some of our advertisers and sponsors may do to count how many times you have seen a particular advert.

Cookies are small bits of data that are sent to your browser and stored on your computers hard drive.  These cookies cannot read any data that may be stored on your hard disk or read any data stored by other cookies. Neither can they cause any damage to your computer system.  All modern web browsers will give you the ability to prevent any cookies from being stored or give you an option to accept or reject any cookie at the time of being sent to your machine.  There are some sites where your viewing experience may be diminished or certain features may not work as they were originally intended without a cookie being installed.

Contributions From Readers.

Where we ask you to submit your ides such as a love poem or story, your most romantic date or some other article for the general benefit of other readers we do ask you to provide your name and email address.  We do not use information collected in this way other than to verify any issues arising with you.  We will not publish any identifiable information about you without your full permission and that will be confirmed by us separately to eliminate any risk of hoaxes.

BeRomantic.com contains links to a large number of other web sites. Although Ron Thomson has personally reviewed every single one of those web sites we can accept no responsibility for any changes to the content of those sites since our last visit. If a reader elects to use our referral form to inform others about the site or any particular page we ask for both your own and your friends name and email address. Our site will then automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit our site and almost immediately that information disappears from our site.  We have no way of collecting that information consequently it is not stored in any database and the readers, and their friends, remain completely anonymous to us.
